Tinseltown Holiday Spectacular: The Skating Rink Transformation
In October 2023, Tinseltown Holiday Spectacular needed a significant construction project completed in a short timeframe. Vacetime was contracted to build a 5,640-square-foot skating rink on uneven dirt, where the elevation varied by up to three feet. The project required a fast turnaround of just seven days.
Vacetime began by excavating the uneven soil to level the ground while simultaneously constructing the exterior timber framing for the rink, completing this in just a day and a half. The next step was to lay 40 yards of rock dust, which was meticulously leveled and packed over the following days to create a smooth, solid foundation. Vacetime spent the final two hours of the project perfecting and touching up any remaining imperfections. Thanks to Jovace and his team, Tinseltown’s rink was completed on time, providing a flawless skating surface for the event’s grand opening.

Comcast Debris Removal: Environmentally Conscious Solutions
In January 2024, Comcast required a debris removal project, where 728 tons of rock screening and 7,956 cubic feet of wood trim needed to be removed within just three days. Due to winter weather conditions, the rock screening became wet and frozen, nearly tripling its weight, which caused the haul-away costs to skyrocket.
Jovace, along with the 6 seasonal workers he was able to employ, found an innovative and environmentally friendly solution for the project. Together, they collaborated with local parks to recycle 628 tons of rock screening, repurposing it to repair potholes and ditches. The remaining 100 tons, which were contaminated and couldn’t be recycled, were properly disposed of. After the debris removal, the team graded the soil to prepare it for reseeding. Despite challenging conditions, they completed the project on time and within budget—a true testament to Vacetime’s resourcefulness and commitment to sustainability.

When faced with the challenge of securing funding for the Comcast project, traditional finance agencies were hesitant to provide assistance, even with a guaranteed contract.
